Frequently Asked Questions
What is Nurse Coaching? How is it Different From Other Forms of Coaching?
Nurse Coaching is a unique coaching relationship between a Registered Nurse (RN) and a client. The priority of the Nurse Coach is to assist the client in implementing behavioral changes that correspond to the client’s health and wellness goals. Nurse Coaches hold a high level of education, training, and experience that sets them apart from other forms of coaching. Nurse Coaching is an excellent tool for helping clients optimize their quality of life, overcome barriers in current health and wellness, and establish long-term health and wellness outcomes. Areas that clients may wish to seek coaching from a Nurse Coach include Lifestyle, Health Responsibility, Environmental Awareness, Nutrition, Physical Wellness, Mental and Emotional (Stress) Support, Spiritual Support, Relationships, and Life Balance/Satisfaction.
What is a Holistic Nurse?
A Holistic Nurse is a nurse who has taken a holistic approach to providing patient care. This type of nurse recognizes that optimal client care must occur through an interconnection of physical, emotional, and spiritual health approaches. Holistic nurses utilize their knowledge of traditional nursing practice with additional education and knowledge regarding complementary and alternative health modalities and tools, including but not limited to acupuncture, massage, herbs, spiritualism, energy work, and movement practices (Yoga/Tai Chi). The goal of a Holistic nurse is to support overall wellness and healing.
Is Nurse Coaching the Same as Therapy?
While we hope you find your Nurse Coaching sessions immensely beneficial, health and wellness support through a Nurse Coach is NOT therapy. Nurse Coaching is a tool that can be utilized to help clients learn new skills and build the future they are aiming for. Nurse coaching emphasizes hope and resilience, is goal-centered, and client-led. Psychological counseling or therapy is often utilized to heal past trauma and to heal from distress and psychological pain. Therapy tends to be more complicated and usually multi-faceted. If a Nurse Coach encounters a situation outside the Nurse Coach's scope of practice, a referral would be made to appropriately licensed professionals.
What Should I Expect During and After a Nurse Coaching Session?
Nurse Coaching sessions are, first and foremost, client-led meetings that function as a tool to bring together an Integrative Nurse Coach and the client to support the client's holistic well-being and health goals. Nurse Coaching can be transformative, moving from a disease-oriented model of care to a well-being and client-defined health plan. Nurse Coaching is a partnership in caring and compassion as a healing process. During a Nurse Coaching session, clients may feel various emotions and/or physical and spiritual relief/relaxation/peace. Clients are encouraged to pace the session to their comfort. There is no required topic of discussion, and you should feel supported and comfortable during sessions. At this time, Wilder Holistic Coaching and Wellness, LLC offers online services only; as such, clients are encouraged to create a healing space for meetings.
How Much Does Nurse Coaching Cost?
Nurse Coaching offers a variety of individualized plans and programs. Service prices vary greatly depending on the type of service or resource purchased. For instance, a digital download of a guided meditation resource would differ greatly from a 1:1 comprehensive 6-session coaching package. Prices are listed on the scheduling page.
